Job Summary

The University of Texas at Arlington, Department of Kinesiology in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is seeking applications from outstanding research scientists to fill a tenure track position at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Department of Kinesiology currently offers multiple undergraduate and graduate programs in the general area of kinesiology including: integrative physiology and applied kinesiology, movement and rehabilitation science, physical education, and athletic training to over 1,100 students (combined undergraduate and masters and doctoral level graduate students). Our faculty’s vast teaching experience, research expertise, and dedication to service provide rich learning experiences for the students across the department’s academic programs. Being housed in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation offers the Department a unique opportunity to play an integral role helping the University succeed in its mission to achieve the goals laid out in UT Arlington’s strategic plan:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Kinesiology is particularly interested in individuals who can make a significant contribution to the department’s overarching theme of research in health and disease across the lifespan with a MOTOR BEHAVIOR or BIOMECHANICS focus. Competitive candidates should have a demonstrated academic interest and research background in one or more of the following areas relating to motor behavior/biomechanics/neuroscience, with expertise in one of the following fields (but not limited to): motor development, motor learning, motor control, rehabilitation sciences, or a closely related discipline by the date of appointment.

Required Qualifications

An earned doctoral degree in Kinesiology, or a closely related field. Competitive applicants at the Assistant Professor level are expected to have a demonstrated track record of scholarly achievement as evidenced by a publication history as well as a record of obtaining external grant funding or a strong promise for obtaining future external funding. Competitive applicants at the Associate Professor level are also expected to have a strong history and are expected to have current external funding with a strong promise for continued external funding in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred areas of scholarship include, but are not limited to, motor behavior and health of special populations and/or motor disorders. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service graduate. A dedicated commitment to teaching and mentorship for undergraduate and graduate students is preferred.
